How to Extract Pages From a PDF (and Fix Sideways Pages)

Often you need only part of a PDF: the signed page of a contract, one month of a bank statement, a single certificate from a long file. Instead of sending the whole thing, you can pull out just those pages into a new PDF in a few seconds.

Extract specific pages into a new PDF

1. Open Split PDF and add your file.
2. In "How to split", choose Extract specific pages into one PDF.
3. Type the pages you want, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10. A dash means "from … to", and commas separate pages or ranges.
4. Click the button and download the new PDF. The original file isn't changed.

The pages come out in the order you type them. 3, 1, 2 puts page 3 first, so the same step also reorders a PDF.

Split every page into its own file

Choose One PDF per page instead. Each page becomes a separate PDF with its own download button. This is handy when a scanner put a whole stack of documents into one file and you need to send them to different places.

Fix pages that are sideways or upside down

Scanned documents often have a page lying on its side. Rotate PDF fixes it without changing anything else:

1. Add the PDF and choose the direction. If the top of the page points left, choose "90° clockwise (right)"; if it points right, choose "90° counterclockwise (left)"; if it is upside down, choose 180°.
2. Leave the pages box empty to turn every page, or type only the ones that are wrong, for example 2, 5.
3. Download the corrected PDF.

Handy combinations

• Replace a page: extract the pages before and after it, then put them back together with the new page using Merge PDF.
• Delete a page: extract every page except that one. For a 10-page PDF without page 4, type 1-3, 5-10.
• Share one page as a picture: after extracting it, PDF to JPG turns it into an image for a chat or a post.

Common questions

Is the document uploaded anywhere?

No. Split PDF and Rotate PDF run inside your browser, so the file never leaves your device. That makes them a good choice for bank statements, contracts and ID documents.

Will the text still be selectable?

Yes. Pages are copied exactly as they are, so text stays selectable and searchable, and links keep working. Nothing is converted to images.

It says the PDF can't be opened

The file is probably protected with a password. Open it in your PDF reader with the password, save or print a copy without it, and try again with that copy.
