How to Save a PDF Page as an Image (JPG or PNG)
A PDF is great for printing, but awkward to share: chat apps show it as a file to download, and social networks and slide decks don't accept it at all. Turning the page into an image makes it show up right away, wherever you put it.
JPG or PNG?

If you're unsure, try JPG first. If the text looks slightly fuzzy when you zoom in, use PNG instead.
Step by step
- Open PDF to JPG (or PDF to PNG) and add the PDF.
- Every page becomes its own image, up to 100 pages. Each one has its own download button.
- Download only the pages you need, or all of them.
The conversion happens inside your browser, so the PDF is never uploaded. It works the same on a phone.
Only need one page of a long PDF?
You can simply download just that image. But if the PDF has hundreds of pages, it's faster to pull out the page first with Split PDF (type the page number, for example 12) and then convert that small file. Our guide on extracting pages from a PDF shows how.
Keep small text readable
- Pages are rendered at about 144 DPI, twice the normal screen size, which keeps normal text sharp when someone zooms in.
- Chat apps and social networks compress images again. For a page full of small print, send it in the chat as a document instead of a photo so it isn't compressed, or share the PDF itself.
- For a social media post, crop the image to the part that matters, so people can read it without zooming. The guide on social media image sizes lists the shapes each app uses.
Common questions
The image is too heavy for a website form
Run it through the image compressor. JPGs usually shrink a lot with no visible change.
Can I turn the images back into a PDF?
Yes: JPG to PDF and PNG to PDF put images back into a single PDF, one per page. The text will be part of the picture, though, so it can't be selected or searched any more.
Why can't my PDF be opened?
It is probably protected with a password. Open it in your PDF reader, save a copy without the password, and convert that copy.
