Why convert HEIC to JPG?
iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. It is an efficient format, but Windows often shows an error or a blank thumbnail, and many websites, job portals, print shops and older apps refuse HEIC uploads. Converting to JPG gives you a photo that opens on every device and is accepted everywhere, at high quality (90 out of 100) and with the photo turned the right way up.

Tips for the best result
- To avoid HEIC in the future, set your iPhone to Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG.
- When you share from the iPhone Photos app by email or AirDrop to a Mac, it may convert to JPG automatically. Copying files over a cable usually keeps HEIC.
- Expect the JPG to be somewhat larger than the HEIC. HEIC is more efficient, so this is normal.
About these formats
HEIC: The photo format iPhones use by default. It keeps photos at about half the size of JPG, but Windows, many websites and older apps cannot open it.
JPG: The most common photo format. It uses compression to keep files small, and it opens everywhere, but it does not support transparency.
Frequently asked questions
Why won't HEIC photos open on Windows?
HEIC uses the HEVC codec. Windows needs extra extensions from the Microsoft Store to display it, and many apps do not support it at all.
Will my photo lose quality?
We save the JPG at quality 90 with the MozJPEG encoder. The difference from the original is very hard to see, even when you zoom in.
What about Live Photos and burst photos?
We convert the main still image. The short video part of a Live Photo is not included.
Can I convert many photos at once?
Yes. Add up to 20 HEIC files at a time and download each JPG.
